I first started practising in 2011, when a friend convinced me to try hot yoga with her. I was going through a particularly tough period of time, and she thought it will cheer me up (spoiler alert: it did). I never thought I’d even come back after the trial class, but right after the class ended, I walked out of the room, straight to the front desk, and put my name down for a 30 days challenge!
As long as you are breathing, you are practising yoga. Forget about your neighbours for now”
I generally like to offer students options in Yin classes as every single body in the room is different. What may work for the person on the next mat, may not work for you. Yes you will all look different to a certain degree, but so what? At the end of the day, it is about the benefits you reap for yourself, both physically and mentally. Be nice to yourself
It was a tradition at the local studio back in Singapore where I first started practising, to do a third set of Triangle pose and sing Happy Birthday, to anyone who practised on their birth day. I practised on mine once. It was a joy seeing friends and fellow yogis giving me the death stare (jokingly… I think?), singing happy birthday, while holding 3rd set of Triangle …. :)
You are already doing great by showing up.
Just keep breathing, anything more after is a bonus.
I have “hitchhiker thumbs”…
Does that count as a talent?
