As soon as the first breathing exercise started in my first class, I wondered what the heck I had got myself in for! Although I found it hard, I loved the challenge and I think I'm one of the few people who actually enjoyed their first class. The next day I was back for more and that was nearly 10 years ago.
Allow yourself to be a beginner, don't focus on what you can't do yet, keep trying your best and be patient, the rest will come. Oh and of course, breathe, and come back tomorrow!
That they are going to sweat a lot! I try to motivate you to try your best, that is all you need to do, your best is always good enough! Maintain a regular practice and you will get the results.
The main thing I love is the amazing transformations and life-changing results I see happen in the hot room, everyone is here for different reasons, sometimes its the little break-throughs students have, or bigger ones like stopping long term pain and healing chronic injuries.
Depends on what time of day I practise, I normally have what my body craves, I eat a pretty healthy, clean food diet, nothing processed, no sugar, fresh real food! At the moment I am loving a smoothie I make with banana, blueberries, coconut milk, chia seeds & pea protein, so delicious and it keeps me going for hours.
That yoga is for E V E R Y B O D Y, you don't need to be flexible to do yoga, that is why we do yoga! This series is designed for beginners, it will work your whole body from the inside out, the postures are simple but challenging, you work at your own level of intensity, just show up and do what you can.
How amazing I feel after class, de-stressed, sleep better, feel healthier and happier, also my jeans fit better! :) I really don't know how people live their lives without this yoga!
I started in the back row just like everybody else, my body was really inflexible, my back bend was merely dropping my head back, my mind was busy busy busy, but over the years I have learn't quite a lot, I'm definitely calmer and don't sweat the small stuff anymore and I have definitely become stronger and more flexible. I hope my practice will take me to a long and healthy life, walking tall and bendy until I'm at least 100 years old :)
I love Standing Head to Knee and Toe Stand as they are quite challenging, but my favourite posture is always Triangle Pose. I think because when I first started I found it so challenging (who doesn't) it looks relatively easy but it is deceiving! It used to absolutely kill me, but I found that because it used 100% of my body it really helped build my strength, flexibility and concentration, such an amazing pose with so many benefits.
I can guess the weight of a suitcase to within 500g of its actual weight, so I'm really handy to have at the airport!
I love the beaches, especially the Coromandel, otherwise I'm always keen to check out a new cafe in search of a good coffee!
